We would like to extend our thanks to JSC Uralkali for joining forces with the International Plant Nutrition Institute (IPNI) to implement a Cocoa Care program to help improve the lives of cocoa farming families in Indonesia.

The main purpose of this program is to enhance the yield and profitability of cocoa production systems, facilitate the effective use of production inputs, and improve the soil quality of intensively managed cocoa production systems through the use of 4R Nutrient Stewardship consistent management practices- applying the right nutrient source, at the right rate, at the right time, in the right place.

Over the next 4 years a minimum of 60 farms from around the Soppeng / Bone region will join this program. All farmers involved in this program are struggling to maintain sustainable productivity levels under increasing pressure from pests and diseases with inadequate application of necessary farm inputs.

All farmers involved in this program will receive in class and on farm training, tool kits for both the male and female of the farming family unit, fertilizers & pest management materials for the program duration along with support and guidance from the Cocoa Care & monitoring teams. In addition dead or non-productive cocoa trees will be rehabilitated or replaced.

Programs like your are essential to get these cocoa farming families onto a solid path to sustainable cocoa farming and help them escape the poverty trap.

We look forward to sharing with you all program updates and photos here as they become available. Again, thank you for caring about Indonesian cocoa farming families.
