For The Future Of Cocoa

Sakti's Farm Update

Sakti's hard work properly managing his farm since completing training is December is starting to pay off!

Since December, Sakti has been a busy farmer pruning his trees and maintaining a good tree shape, cleaning up his farm floor, conducting routine pest management duties and fertilizing his trees. The training that was provided by your program gave Sakti a brilliant insight into how to properly manage his farm in order to increase the production of cocoa.

During a routine visit to Sakti's farm by Cocoa Carer Darwis, we were able to capture these photos which shows quite a number of flowers visible on the trees with cocoa pods starting to come out.

This time last year Sakti had no cocoa on his trees so this is certainly a positive sign that his productivity this eyar will be significantly better than previous years.

A well managed cocoa farm and highly productive cocoa farm will generally have cocoa on the trees all year round, however this is less common these days as farmers lack the training to manage their farm in a sustainable way.

Thanks to your sponsorship Sakti can now turn this around and increase his productivity which increases the family income allowing Sakti and his wife to better provide for their young family.
